On Deck
The Impala has some clever design features inside, to maximise the space available. The large chart table folds away to create more seating, and the two pilot berths fold down when in harbour to act as backrests for the main saloon berths. There’s a galley to starboard, and facing forwards, a heads compartment, before you reach the forepeak.
There’s a sail locker under the cockpit in boats with outboard engines, while an engine, a Yanmar 1GM10, sits just under the companionway in inboard-engined boats.
The original Impala design featured an outboard in a retractable housing in the middle cockpit locker.
