The Impala class is asking for members’ views on a proposed rule change. The unprecedented step would allow the introduction of a custom-built hydrofoil keel, aimed at boosting the Impala’s performance in flat water and medium winds.  The class chairman said: It should bring the class bang up to date, and could even lead to its inclusion in the 2016 Olympics.’

The proposed new design, which should easily bolt on, is below. Members’ views should be submitted by 1200 on the 1st April.
